At Empire Automotive, we are Cartec’s CeramicGuard accredited technicians for Hastings, Bexhill, Battle, Eastbourne and surrounding areas in the South East. Cartec was founded over 30 years ago in the Netherlands. Cartec produce all of their own products which have been developed solely by themselves in their labs, and are specifically designed to target the automotive industry.

Their ceramic coating ‘CeramicGuard’ is completely unrivalled and is a game changer to the detailing industry. Protecting against the likes of; acid rain, UV damage, traffic film, tree sap, bird mess and fallout, CeramicGuard gives your paint work more depth and a brighter shine. The coating can be applied to glass, wheels, trims, chrome, and all paintwork types.

Revolutionary open cell ceramic coating technology.

Cartec Ceramic Guard coating uses a breathable formula, this means it can be applied to a freshly painted car just 24 hours after it leaves the paint booth. Allowing new paint to breath properly is vital, allowing the air and solvents in the paint to escape ensures it hardens and cures fully. Choosing CeramicGuard means you don’t have to wait several weeks before you can get out and enjoy your car after having paint work carried out. This is achieved by their patented formula which replaces Silicon Dioxide (Si02) for Silicone Carbide (SiCarbon) which inherently is more resistant to solvent and chemical load as well as thermal change - Essentially lasting longer over time during seasonal changes.

SI CARBON+ COATING Process

    1. Complete decontamination wash

The first stage of any treatment process is creating a clean and contaminate free base to work from. Our process starts by using Bilt Hamber’s Prewash snow foam. This is followed by a thorough two bucket wash using a reset shampoo to strip any existing waxes or oils.

We can then use a clay-bar to remove tar and iron fallout that’s embedded in the paint - These are the small black dots and even smaller orange ‘rust’ looking particles that stick to your paint. The car is then rewashed, and dried before it comes into the detailing bay.

Wheels are removed and set aside for their own decon steps before the coating stage. All inner arches, brakes and suspension are cleaned with APC and protected with Bilt Hamber Dynax UC anti-corrosion wax.

The vehicle is then blown with compressed air in the door shuts, gaps and wing mirrors to ensure a dust and water free base to start our next process.

    2. Machine polishing

The most important stage of the Ceramic coating process. Using Cartec’s range of compounds and polishes, the full paint correction process can begin. Using a mixture of rotary’s and dual action polishers, we work up through the grades of compounds to able to remove swirls, oxidation, scratches and blemishes in the paintwork.

We typically use 3000 and 4000 for our first cut stages which ensures a clean and levelled surface. Although it might look great after the first stage, coarse cutting compound aren’t something you’d finish with as it leaves the surface at 50% of it’s clarity, so we now move onto the refining process.

We complete this process again but switch to a dual action polisher to keep heat generation to a minimum, and use Cartec’s 9000 polish. This smooths out the microscopic peaks and valley’s created by the former stage which absorbs reflection of light instead of reflecting it. Once we’ve completed our 2nd stage, we move onto our 12000 finishing polish which enhances the shine and gives a greater depth to the paint work.

Once our 3 stages are complete, the vehicle is blown with compressed air, and given a final wipe down to remove any dust and excess polish.

    3. Coating and protecting

The car is panel wiped with an IPA mixture to completely remove any residual polishing oils.

The SiCarbon+ CeramicGuard coating is applied by applicator block in linear lines, and allowed to dwell for 30s before buffing to smooth, brilliant shine. We continue this process until the whole car has been coated.

Revolutionary in its field, Cartec’s CeramicGuard offers protection against UV-rays, salt, traffic film, road grime, acid rain, fallout, and resistant to bird mess etching. Alongside this, it’s proven to enhance the paints depth and colour. Our favourite benefit of all, is it’s hydrophobic power - The tell-tale sign that a car is ceramic coated is it’s ability to repel and bead water more than anything you’ve seen before, ensuring the vehicle is easy to keep clean with just the spray from your pressure washer.

CeramicGuard comes with a 3 year warranty as standard providing the coating isn’t neglected, and can be extended to 6 years with an annual top up by Empire Automotive or any other CG accredited technician.

Each CeramicGuard kit is given a unique warranty code which is registered to your vehicle, and displayed on the warranty sticker installed by us upon completion. You’ll also receive a complimentary care kit on hand-over.
